Workshops
For Parents and Children
For parents of the angry, challenging child
Parenting is the most important as well as the hardest job in the world. How can you take the time to both learn how to address these challenges and also to heal, to self-nurture, for yourself and in turn enhance that valuable relationship with your child?
There is nothing like having children that can force us to really face ourselves. Whether they push those buttons in us that cause us frustration and anger, or those sensitive moments that touch our own vulnerabilities or needs.
Indeed, as much as we are the teachers to our children, they often show us or teach us more about who we are. When we are faced with our children challenging us, it can take our ability to love them to greater heights---if we only listen.
So if you want the “how to handle challenging children” intertwined with developing yourself as a person and a parent, adding deeper meaning and love in your relationship with your child, then come and relax, learn, and explore in this experiential group. Periodic workshops in Granby and Hartford area.
For parents of the challenging pre-schooler
The young child is full of bounce and vigor, seeking attention, and challenging you in many ways. How do you balance a loving relationship and discipline?
Please bring your questions and challenges to this interactive workshop that will provide some To Do’s as well as looking at how your’s and your child’s personality effect your relationship. Periodic workshops in Granby or Hartford area.
For children with social skill challenges, ages 7-10
Do you have a child that struggles with making friends? Perhaps he or she is anxious, shy, or impulsive, or the target of bullying or even someone who like to pick on others. This is an opportunity for all of them to get together and learn how to make friends with each other. It will include exercises on building self-esteem, self-respect, and respect for others. It is preceded by a workshop with parents to discuss what you can do to help with the process while your child attends the group, as well as orienting you and making sure it is right for your child.. Since this is a therapy group, insurance can be accepted, with a deposit due at the time of the parent’s meeting. For non-insurance, the cost slides $25-$40 per session with the expectation that all sessions will be paid for and attended.
For adolescents
Please call if you are interested in an adolescent discussion group to address general challenges.
